Bubinga and African Blackwood Jewelry Box
Beautiful small jewelry box to hold your precious rings.
This beautiful small jewelry box can comfortably hold two to three rings. The main portion of this box is made from Bubinga wood. Bubinga comes from Equatorial Africa.
The button that is at the top of the box is made from African Blackwood. Blackwood comes from the dry savanna regions of central and southern Africa. African blackwood is very expensive because the tree grows so slowly. It is listed on CITES appendix II under the genus-wide restriction on all Dalbergia species—which also includes finished products made of the wood. It’s also reported by the IUCN as being near threatened.
I only use reputable resellers to source the wood that I use.
Specifications
The box is 2 1/4" (5.71cm) wide by 2" (5.08cm) tall. The depth of both the top and bottom is 1/2" (1.27cm) deep.
The hardware is a beautiful 24k Gold plating with a decorative accent band with gold bow.
Construction
The very first thing I do is hand select each piece and then turn the box to its final shape. The box is then sanded 7 times with progressively finer grits of sandpaper, to create a very smooth surface. Multiple different glues and waxes are applied to protect the box for years to come. Each box goes through a 21 step process to achieve the lustrous polished to a mirror-like shine.
