Figured Redwood Cigar Pen
What a beauty! This cigar-style pen is made from Figured Redwood with the segments being Purpleheart and African Blackwood.
Redwood comes from coastal northwestern United States (from southwestern Oregon to central California), it is one of the largest trees.
Purpleheart comes from Central and South America (from Mexico down to southern Brazil).
African Blackwood comes from the dry savanna regions of central and southern Africa. African blackwood is listed on CITES appendix II under the genus-wide restriction on all Dalbergia species—which also includes finished products made of this wood. It’s also reported by the IUCN as being near threatened. I only use vendors that source this wood responsibly.
Pen specifications
The metal fittings are 10K Gold. The overall length is 5 1/2" (13.97cm), cap is 9/16" (1.42cm) wide.
It takes a Parker® type ball point refill.
Pen Construction
The very first thing I do is hand select each piece and then turn the pen to the final shape. The pen is then sanded 7 times with progressively finer grits of sandpaper, to create a very smooth surface. Multiple different types of glue and waxes are applied to protect the pen for years of hard use. Each pen goes through a 21 step process to achieve the lustrous polished to a mirror-like shine.
Your pen will come in a velvet box.
The pen in the picture is the one you will receive. If you are interested in multiple pens, please contact me. Since each pen is a unique work of art, exact duplicates are not possible. But, I will do my best to create a pen that looks similar using the same wood and finish.
