Magnetic Vertex Rollerball - African Blackwood, Redheart wood, Hybrid Burl
This is a beautiful one-of-a-kind magnetic vertex rollerball specifically made for that hard to shop for person.
The outer segment is African Blackwood, African Blackwood comes from the dry savanna regions of central and southern Africa. African Blackwood is listed on CITES appendix II under the genus-wide restriction on all Dalbergia species—which also includes finished products made of this wood. It’s also reported by the IUCN as being near threatened. I only use vendors that source this wood responsibly.
The middle segment is Redheart wood, Redheart comes from Southern Mexico to southern Brazil and Paraguay. Redheart is commonly called Chakte Kok.
The inner segment is made from Maple Burl and Resin. Handcrafted by me.
Pen Specifications
The metal fittings are a Gun Metal finish. The overall length is 5 1/2" (13.97cm), width is 1/2" (1.27cm) wide.
It takes a Rollerball ink refill.
Pen Construction
The very first thing I do is hand select each piece and then turn the pen to the final shape. The pen is then sanded 7 times with progressively finer grits of sandpaper, to create a very smooth surface. Multiple different types of glue and waxes are applied to protect the pen for years of hard use. Each pen goes through a 21 step process to achieve the lustrous polished to a mirror-like shine.
Your pen will come in a velvet box.
The pen in the picture is the one you will receive. If you are interested in multiple pens, please contact me. Since each pen is a unique work of art, exact duplicates are not possible. But, I will do my best to create a pen that looks similar using the same wood and finish.
